Although the companies at Raufoss are not the direct source of so-called Scope 3 emissions, such as those from raw material production, we are still responsible for them. This is what we aim to communicate with the pillar "Responsible Industrial Park." To specify and quantify goals for Scope 3 emissions, we have initially committed to gaining a full overview of them. Once we have a complete understanding, we can set concrete reduction targets. For now, we have aligned our goal with Norway's transition target of a 55% reduction. This target also applies to the Scope 3 emissions over which we have control, such as business travel and emissions from transporting both raw materials in and finished goods out.
Gaining an overview of Scope 3 emissions is a significant challenge for many organizations. Scope 3 emissions encompass all indirect emissions that occur throughout a company’s value chain, both upstream and downstream. These include activities such as the production of purchased goods and services, transportation, waste management, and the use of sold products. These emissions are often the most complex and extensive to map and report.
Raufoss Industrial Park consists of over 50 companies. All of these companies have had the opportunity to contribute to the Planet 2030 – Raufoss Industrial Park project. The most active participants are those companies involved in the production of goods, with the largest number of employees and the greatest impact on energy use and climate, as well as service providers:
Benteler Automotive, Hexagon Ragasco, Isiflo, Kongsberg Automotive, Nammo Raufoss, Plasman, Raufoss Aluminium, Raufoss Technology, and Solør Bio.
